Great Tans Don't Happen By Accident
If there's one thing we've learnt after more than 30 years in indoor tanning, it's this.
Getting a great tan isn't about getting hotter or spending longer. It's about being kinder to your skin and making smarter choices.
The right tanning program. The right skincare. The right advice. The right plan.
Because every skin type is different. Every glow goal is different. So every tanning journey should be too.
When Consol first opened, indoor tanning was often about hopping on the next available sunbed and hoping for the best. Fast-forward thirty years and tanning is very different. Today's tanning systems are smarter, skincare has become more advanced and our understanding of skin has evolved. Thankfully, the days of 'just stick another couple of minutes on' are well behind us. Some of today's tanning systems can almost make you feel like you've escaped to the Bahamas… almost.
Different glow goals need different technology
One of the biggest myths about indoor tanning is that every tanning system does exactly the same thing. It doesn't.
Every tanning system at Consol operates within the recognised European 0.3 UV standard because that's the safest and most responsible way to tan. The difference isn't about stronger UV; it's about choosing the right tanning system for your skin and your glow goals.
If you're building a base tan, one tanning system may be the perfect place to start. Once you've built your colour, progression doesn't necessarily mean spending longer tanning. It could mean choosing a different UV combination, something advanced tanning systems such as Ergoline Elements and MegaSun K11 Air are designed to offer.
Sometimes it isn't about UV at all. Technologies such as SYNERGY Light and Red Light Technology are designed to support skin quality, helping your skin perform at its best and maximise its natural tanning potential.
That's why the first question from our Glow Team usually isn't 'How many minutes?' It's 'What's your glow goal?' Tell us where you're heading and we'll help build the journey to get you there.

Innovation doesn't stop with tanning systems. We wanted tanning to fit around modern life too, so we built an app that lets customers join Consol from the sofa, get verified and walk into a studio ready to glow.
We were one of the first tanning operators in the UK to introduce Ergoline Elements, combining advanced UV tanning with SYNERGY Light to create an entirely new tanning experience. We've also invested in the MegaSun K11 Air, offering destination-inspired tanning programmes and one of the most advanced tanning experiences available today.
When Ergoline unveiled The Edge, they even brought it to our 30th Birthday celebration. We'll admit, we were pretty proud of that.
We're also expanding dedicated Red Light Technology (Beauty Light) and near-infrared into selected studios as we continue exploring the future of light-based technology. The industry keeps evolving. So do we.

Sophia has spent more than twenty years working with some of the biggest names in indoor tanning. She helps develop products, trains our teams and continually asks one question: 'How can we help customers get even more from every tanning session?'

Glow School
Every Consol studio is home to trained Indoor Tanning Experts, known internally as our Glow Technicians.
Glow School is real. Our Glow Technicians learn about tanning programs, equipment maintenance, responsible tanning, performance skincare and different skin types. They test products with different tanning systems, share what they're seeing in studios and keep learning because the industry never stands still.
Recommending a bottle is easy. Recommending the right bottle, with the right tanning system, for the right customer takes experience.

We've learnt an enormous amount, but we're still asking questions; still pushing the boundaries of tanning performance.
The customers have taught us the most. Every goal, every question, every milestone they want to glow for, every piece of feedback has shaped who Consol is today. Customers don't fall in love with technology. They fall in love with the confidence it gives them. Technology simply helps us get there.
